Christmas is not just a day, it’s a feeling! It’s the joy that fills our hearts, the sparkle in our eyes, and the warmth we share with our family and friends. This year, everyone is invited to Madison Library District’s 14th Annual Christmas Extravaganza, a Christmas Morning-themed gathering to celebrate the joyous season.
Festive Pajama Party
Love the idea of staying in your cozy pajamas all day? Well, we do too! That’s why this year’s Extravaganza is a Christmas Morning-themed pajama party. So, put on your festive PJ’s, grab a treat, and join us for an evening of stories and crafts. It’s going to be a cozy and fun evening filled with laughter and cheer for the whole family.
Santa’s Visit
And what’s a Christmas celebration without Santa Claus? Get ready for a special visit from Santa himself. Santa’s visits will start at 4:30 PM. Make sure you’re there to greet him and share your Christmas wishes!

Are you a bookworm between the ages of 12-18 looking for an exciting reading challenge? Look no further! Get ready to dive into an adventure from October 2023 to April 2024 with the Idaho Teen Reading Challenge, designed to engage readers in discovering new books and genres while offering the chance to win prizes!

Ignite Your Creativity at the Library! Join us for a colorful adventure as teens ages 12-18 transform melted crayon shavings into stunning works of art on November 2. On November 16, we will craft Pringles can lighthouses that will light up your imagination! Join us on Thursdays in the Community Room at 4:30 PM.
Calling all brave adventurers ages 12-18! Join us in the Community Room on Nov. 3 and 17 at 3:30 PM for epic quests, magical encounters, and endless fun with our Teen Dungeons and Dragons group. For tweens and teens aged 9-18, it’s time to embark on a journey into the world of strategy and fun with our master of games, Nick Allison. We meet every Monday in the Community Room at 4:30 PM. Game supplies are provided, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!
Mark your calendars for a special event – the Open Chess Tournament on November 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. It’s a Chess Tournament for all levels! Test your skills against players in your category for a chance to win sweet prizes. Our chess and game master, Nick Allison, will oversee the tournament, ensuring an exciting and fair competition. Teens are invited to join the annual Library Teen Virtual Convention! Inspired by all our favorite ghost stories, spooky folklore, and mysterious cryptids, this year’s theme is HAUNTINGS! The Convention is hosted on Discord and will run from Sept. 4 to Oct. 27. This year we’re pleased to have panels from guest experts on topics like AI Art and Ethics, game design, and careers in STEM, as well as a variety of games and challenges and daily art, writing, and conversation prompts. Make ‘n take crafts for teens! We will meet in the Community Room on Thursdays, Oct. 5 and 19 at 4:30 PM. Any extra kits will be available after the activity at the Circulation desk while supplies last. On Oct. 5, teens will paint and decorate wooden blocks to get ready for the Halloween season. On Oct. 19, we will make some preposterous pranks which, of course, are totally harmless! For ages 12-18.
Teen Anime Club is watching Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun this month! Ages 12-18 are invited to join and make friends with other anime and manga fans. Come on Thursdays, October 12 & 26 at 4:30 PM in the Community Room.
Pull your ghostly writing out of the shadows and into the light with editor/author, September C. Fawkes, creator of the award-winning writing tip blog. She will guide you through the dark forest that leads toward publication and how to become an editor. The event will be streamed on Discord with the “Haunting” Library Teen Virtual Convention, October 11 @ 4:00 PM MST. Help us celebrate TeenTober 2023 with cryptids, ghosts, and supernatural occurrences! We’ll have an “interactive” movie experience with Halloween favorites like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Wear your best costume for a contest and prizes at the end. Please, no weapons or masks.

We’ve got crafts for teens (ages 12-18) at the Library! Join us Thursdays this month in the Community Room from 4:30-5:30 PM. Teens will be using perler beads to create cryptid creations on Sept. 7! For Sept. 21, teens will need to bring a pair of shoes that require laces so that they can learn new and unique ways that they can tie their shoes, changing their everyday shoes into their own unique pieces of art! The library will provide laces.
