January Programs for Teens
Chess & Game Club
Learn the art of chess and other games with the master of fun and strategy, Nick Allison. Tweens and teens ages 9-18 are welcome to join every Monday* from 4:30-5:30 PM in the Community Room. Game supplies will be provided.
*There will be no Chess and Game Club on January 20 due to our Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closure.
Teen Action Council
The Teen Action Council gathers to discuss plans and come up with ways for the Library to serve teens. Ages 13-18 are invited to join us Wednesday, Jan. 8th in the Community Room at 4 PM!
Manga and Animation Art Club
Manga & Animation Art Club is back! Join us on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 4:30 PM in the Community Room.
Teens ages 12-18 will dive into the history of animation and discover how it has evolved over the years. Bring your creativity, learn new skills, and connect with others who share your passion for art and storytelling. See you there!
Family Friendly Films

Young League of Writers
Young League of Writers is meeting again on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 4:00 PM in the Community Room!
Teens ages 12-18 are invited to share their writing, make new friends, and talk about what makes storytelling shine. This month, we’ll dive into the in’s and out’s of writing character dialogue—how to make your characters’ voices come alive on the page! Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, come join the fun and get inspired!
Anime Club
Teen Anime Club is back on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 4:00 PM in the Community Room!
Teens ages 12-18 can hang out, watch Yu-Gi-Oh, and get crafty. This month, we’ll be transforming Yu-Gi-Oh cards into awesome 3-D creations! Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just curious, join us for anime, creativity, and good company. See you there!
Dungeons & Dragons
Calling all teen adventurers! Join us for Dungeons & Dragons on Fridays, January 17th and 31st at 3:30 PM in the Community Room. Whether you’re a seasoned hero or a curious beginner, this classic role-playing game lets you create your own character, choose your story path, and roll the dice to determine your fate! Experienced players can bring their own characters (5th Edition rules), or try out one of our pre-made adventurers—perfect for those just starting out. Ages 12-18. Ready your swords and spells… the journey awaits!
Cook with a Book
Cook with a Book is back on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 4:00 PM in the Community Room!
Teens ages 12-18 are invited to this unique book club where we don’t just read—we cook! This month, we’ll journey into the magical world of Narnia with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and whip up Mrs. Beaver’s Leftover Fry.
Join us for good food, great books, and a dash of adventure!
Teen LEGO Club
Teen LEGO Club is meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 4:30 PM in the Community Room!
Are you a brick magician, a “block” head, or just looney for LEGOs? Come join other LEGO enthusiasts as we build Asian Architecture in celebration of Lunar New Year! Bring your imagination and let’s build something amazing together!
Teen Crafts
Teen Crafts is happening on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 4:30 PM in the Community Room!
Teens ages 12-18 can join us to get creative and learn how to make adorable snow globes from mini jars. Don’t miss this chance to craft something fun and unique with friends!
Armchair Traveler Challenge: Apprentice Artist
Reading can inspire creativity and we are painting a masterpiece! Take an epic journey with us this year as we explore the world of art, from color and style to history and industry. Armchair travelers will read books to create a portfolio of canvases that earn them opportunities to enter the final drawing for our grand prizes. Any reader who joins us for even a portion of the trip will receive small prizes along the way. Idaho Teen Reading Challenge
Teens ages 12-18—are you ready for the Idaho Teen Reading Challenge? Sign up today at Madison Library District, Madison Jr. High Library, Madison High School Library, or online with the Beanstack app!
Read 8 books from 10 different categories and track your progress on Beanstack or with paper trackers, journals, or bookmarks available at all three libraries. For every book you finish, grab a prize at the Circulation desk or during visiting librarian days at your school library!
Complete the challenge by May 1 to be entered into a drawing for a $30 gift card AND help your library earn books! Let’s get reading!
