April Teen Crafts and Events

We have LOTS of fun things planned for the teens in April!  Here’s a breakdown of all the great things you’ll want to do:

TEEN ACTION COUNCIL: Monday, April 1 at 4:00 to 4:45 pm

TEEN CRAFT: Thursday, April 4 at 4:00 pm – Come learn how to do Book Art!

YOUNG LEAGUE OF WRITERS: Monday April 8 at 4:00 pm – “Creating characters your readers will adore and despise”

TEEN PARTY: April 12 at 7:00 to 9:00 pm  National Library Week Teen Party- “Libraries are EGGs-traordinaryl!”

TEEN ACTION COUNCIL: Monday, April 15 at 4:00 to 4:45 pm

 TEEN CRAFT: Thursday, April 18 at 4:00 pm – Come and make a Fairy Lantern Jar.

TEEN BOOK CLUB: Monday, April 22 at 5:00 – 6:oo pm  Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie “Mystery dinner and discussion before going to see the production of Murder on the Orient Express @ Madison High School” *Participants need to sign up on clipboard at the circulation desk & provide own transportation to MHS.*

We hope to see you there!

All teen activities and events are for those ages 12 to 17,  All craft supplies are provided.  All you need to bring is yourself and maybe a friend!

“Book Art” Contest

“Unbound, Up-cycled, & Remade!”

Submitting Book Art
Entries must be no larger than 13 in deep x 16 in wide x 18 in tall. They must be self-contained and able to move as a complete unit. Entries must be at least 75% up-cycled book pages. Additional elements of the art scene may be made of any other substance. Entries will be displayed as entered. You must submit a completed entry packet with each diorama entered. If submitting multiple entries, number each entry to match a corresponding entry form.

All entries must be completed by 5 PM April 5, 2019. Entries must be submitted by the original creator. Your book art submission and entry form is your guarantee that you are the creator of the entry.

Need books for your art? The Wishing Well Bookstore in the lobby of the library has some great used books for sale! All proceeds come back to the library so that we may purchase new books and materials. The bookstore is run by the Madison Library Foundation.

In the community room

Re-purpose a book into an attractive item for display. All it takes is a good pattern, a book, a ruler, and a bit of time. We’ll give the patterns. We’ll provide the books. We’ll have some rulers. Come spend a little time and get exposed to a new addiction, book folding! See the samples on display at the library.
