Story Time

Gallop into Story Time fun this October!

Toddler Time (ages 10-23 months) on Mondays & Tuesdays at 9:30 AM and Book Babies (ages 0-9 months) on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM will both feature “Clippity-clop, on a horse and pony we’ll hop!” Note: there will be no Toddler Time on October 7.
Story Time (ages 2-5) on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM & 6:30 PM, and Wednesdays at 10:30 AM will explore the letter “H” with weekly themes:
Oct. 1-2: Something NEW just for YOU!
Oct. 8-9: Horses & Ponies
Oct. 15-16: Hedgehogs
Oct. 22-23: Hibernation
Oct. 29-30: Halloween

Calling all young detectives and fairytale fans! Join us for Great Reads for Girls on Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room as we dive into The Fairytale Detectives, the first book in The Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley. Idaho Teen Reading Challenge

Teens ages 12-18—are you ready for the Idaho Teen Reading Challenge? Sign up today at Madison Library District, Madison Jr. High Library, Madison High School Library, or online with the Beanstack app!

Read 8 books from 10 different categories and track your progress on Beanstack or with paper trackers, journals, or bookmarks available at all three libraries. For every book you finish, grab a prize at the Circulation desk or during visiting librarian days at your school library!

Complete the challenge by May 1 to be entered into a drawing for a $30 gift card AND help your library earn books! Let’s get reading!

Any reader who joins us for even a portion of the trip will have the opportunity to earn small prizes along the way. Calling all teen adventurers! Join us for Dungeons & Dragons on Fridays, September 13 & 27 at 3:30 PM in the Community Room. Whether you’re a seasoned hero or a curious beginner, this classic role-playing game lets you create your own character, choose your story path, and roll the dice to determine your fate!

Experienced players can bring their own characters (5th Edition rules), or try out one of our pre-made adventurers—perfect for those just starting out. Let the adventure unfold!

Cook With a Book

Calling all teen wizards and witches! Join us on Wednesday, September 18 at 4 PM in the Community Room for a special Cook With a Book event! We’ll be diving into the enchanting world of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and whipping up some of Harry’s favorite treats—delicious pumpkin pasties and frothy butterbeer!

Whether you’re a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff, all witches and wizards (ages 12-18) are welcome! Don’t miss this chance to discuss the magic of Hogwarts while making some spellbinding snacks.

Anime Club

Hey teen anime fans! Join us for an epic Anime Club meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4 PM in the Community Room. We’re watching Makoto Shinkai’s stunning film Your Name. No need to sign up, just show up and enjoy an evening of anime, manga chats, and fun games with fellow fans! Ages 12-18 welcome. See you there!

Teen Crafts

Teens (ages 12-18), grab your friends and join us on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 4:30 PM in the Community Room for a fun afternoon of Teen Crafts. We’ll listen to music and create awesome book pumpkins to get ready for Halloween. Take home your awesome art project and get into the spooky spirit. We can’t wait to see you there!

Summer Reading 2024

Adventure Begins at Your Library with Summer Reading 2024! This annual program is designed for all ages to read every day, participate in special Library programs, and keep smashing our reading goals! The second prizes for every level will be available July 1st and the third prizes will be released on July 15th. The last day to sign up is July 20th, and the last day for prizes is July 27th. Mark your calendars for July 1st because we’ve gone mad with Mancala! Join us for an outdoor Mancala madness party with squishy balls, buckets of water, and a lot of fun! FAMILY READ EVENING

The Idaho Family Reading Week will be November 8-14. The theme is BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE! because anything is possible when reading is in your life.

Celebrate with a night of storytelling, prizes, crafts, and all around fun.

TEEN ANIME CLUB

Watch a few episodes of the Anime series, Noragami.

The series follows Hiyori, who was in a bus accident while attempting to save a stranger. From this accident, her soul continually leaves her body and she becomes aware of two parallel worlds: the Near Shore, where our normal world exists, and the Far Shore, where demons and humans soul linger. It is at the Far Shore where she meets Yato, a nameless god without a shrine. In his attempt to make a name for himself and help Hiyori fix her body, the two embark on adventures together which test themselves and their friendship.
